Today I stuffed envelopes.
That's it. That's what I did. That was how expended a whole day of my life. Another day closer to my inevitable death; another day further from my long-lost youth. Once I lived by the maxim "Seize the Day", but now my life has contracted and my motto is "Fritter the Day Away; Ignore Friends, Family and Matters of Any Importance; Stuff Envelopes for that is Your Purpose Little Man of No Consequence."
Eventually, I entered a zen state. I became one with the envelope, and floated gently into The Pillar Box of Love, where the happy envelopes congregate. It was nice there. I was happy.
I listened to Radio 2 while I stuffed the envelopes. Elaine Paige's "Hits from the Musicals" was the perfect accompaniament to my mindless task. I passed stuffed envelope number 423 as I listened to some shockingly, shockingly bland number from Aspects of Love (Andrew Lloyd Webber cleverly avoiding the more literally correct name "Aspects of Pish").
