Now that I am a father it has come to this: the highlight of my week is attending the Strathaven Balloon Festival. Here are 6 Facts about the Strathaven Balloon Festival -
1. There were no balloons. The organisers claimed it was "too windy". I smell a conspiracy with the Strathaven Chamber of Commerce as the prime suspects.
2. My 4 year old nephew can shoot off 40 paintball pellets in 0.37 seconds. That is the fastest £5 I have ever spent. And I play poker badly.
3. The event is attended exclusively by people pushing prams. And of course small people in prams.
4. One of the Line Dancing Display Team had not been to enough rehearsals.
5. Sheepdogs can herd ducks.
6. The sight of a small scale railway that you can ride on is just as thrilling when you're 40 as it was when you were 7.
