We had a gig with Sketchy! in Castle Douglas today. It was the last one of the tour, and like the wild, rock 'n' roll creatures that we are in the world of third division touring children's theatre, rather than celebrating by trashing a hotel room and bedding some groupies, we had a nice cup of tea in a nearby hotel and then headed home.
I drove my sister-in-law The Flame Haired Writing Genius home, and we were engaged in the usual post show dissection -
"Do you think it worked?"
"Yeah - you should be proud of yourself."
"Well, you should be proud of yourself too."
"No - you should be prouder."
"We should both be very proud."
(PAUSE)
"Do you think it worked though?"
We'd engaged in this traditional badinage for about half an hour, when, virtually in the middle of nowhere, we came across a restaurant, called The Grapes. And right across the road from it were two things.
A very small sign that said "Temporary Bus Stop".
And a bin.
It did make us wonder about the extensive advertising campaign that The Grapes could run.
Ever gone to a restaurant and felt let down by its public transport links? Worse, have you dined with a bag of rubbish and been disappointed when, after your meal, there is no bin to deposit your trash? Well - you'll never encounter that at The Grapes! There's a bin and a temporary bus stop right across the road. The Grapes! Handy for the bin... and the temporary bus stop.
