Day 15 Sweet Potato Pie has been letting her husband away with murder; Umi has been saying "Om" repeatedly and (a new contributor here) Kenny B has been offering a lift in his car to ladies that he barely knows. For my part I'm lighting a few candles and pouring the wife a glass of wine.
On the home front, I have completed the third draft of The Book. The project inches towards completion. I have sworn to my Significant Other that I shall not be getting my hair cut until it is finished. It is therefore quite possible that, in a few years time, you will find a hairy man in Queen Street station, with a can of Tennents Superlager and a large sheaf of papers which he is manically highlighting. He will be divorced of course, but he will still have his book damn it. He'll still have that.
We got a nice wee review through for the Edinburgh gig of Sketchy! (a children's show that I directed. It's from Three Weeks which is one of the bigger reviewers at the Festival. You can find it here , but here's the text -
Sketchy!
Practical Magic
In my world, comedy will be taught in schools. So sketch comedy for children is exactly what parents should be looking for to keep their kids entertained. 'Sketchy!' provides silly comedy with lots of different, fun characters and that pie-in-the-face kind of humour. Some of the references may go over the kid's heads, but with so many characters they won't be bored for too long. That said, while there were chances for the kids to yell out, their possibly weren't enough for a full hour, and by the end some of the kids around me were squirming in their seats. Nevertheless, this was exactly the sort of thing I would have loved as a child and I recommend it for a fun morning.Underbelly, 15 Aug, 10:35am (11:35am), £8.00 (£5.00), fpp 19.
