I'm pleased to say we now have two crew members for the Comedy Festival. It's always reassuring to learn that the members of the team who actually know what they're doing are able to come along and build the set, light the show; and generally make the whole thing look splendid.
It often occurs to me that my particular talent appears to be jumping in feet first into various ventures, and thereby committing lots of other people to sleepless nights; driving vans in the middle of the night; and, on one occasion, sawing a caravan in half in a field full of inquisitive gypsy children.
The thing is they seem to like it. Or at least they come back to do it again. This may indicate a love of the theatre or, come to think of it, perhaps they all have the memory of a goldfish, and keep thinking that this is the first time they've got a splinter the size of Belgium in their hand while putting up a set.
Anyway, I'm glad they do. The stage would be rather bare without them.
