Entry for November 24, 2006

I will share with you my dream. I had the dream last night. I share it so you will know my darkest fantasies.
I was visiting a girl in her flat. The meeting was clandestine. Somewhere I didn't know. Some girl I barely knew. A strange town. It was a furtive assignation. A few hours together before we went back to our own lives.
The thrill of the strange flat, her strange perfume. A sense of danger coursing through my veins.
So far so good - the erotic night time wanderings of many men must be similar.
But then, I started to notice something about the flat. The high ceilings; the spacious rooms; the original features....
"You're place is lovely, " I say to the mystery girl.
"Thanks, I just moved in," she replies, all dusky and dangerous.
"How much was it," I casually enquire.
"About £52,00o" she says (I like the exactness of that number - my subconscious is clearly working hard to sell the illusion to dreaming me.)
"Wow" I say. Now the excitement in the dream starts to build. A strange town in Scotland. Big flats going for under £60k. Forget the clandestine sex darling - there's the real thrill for a middle class man - an undiscovered pocket of under-priced property. Think of the envy across the Thai Pumpkin Curry at dinner parties next year. Think of Simon and Natasha congratulating you through gritted teeth.
It's nice to wake up with a warm glow.
