I'm sorry there's so little news about Practical Magic just now folks, but the truth is I've been concentrating all (well most - well a bit of ) my energies on the third draft of my law book. About two years ago it seemed like a marvellous idea to pitch an idea of a book to a legal publisher. Obviously, if I'd thought there was any chance of them saying yes I would have kept my mouth firmly shut.
At the moment I'm facing a deadline of the New Year to get a clean, shiny draft of the book into the mitts of my very patient editor. So, I'm trying to be disciplined. Honestly I am. I'm not writing this to waste time, and avoid looking at the Pensions on Divorce (Sharing Them Out Fairly) (One to You, One to Me) (Scotland) Regulations 2006. Honestly.
My friend, who is also writing a law book, and I have a pact. We have agreed that when we are finished, we are to have a little ceremony. We will meet on the heath at midnight. We will burn the drafts under the light of a crescent moon, and we will swear a blood oath to the solemn effect that if we EVER display the slightest desire to do this again, then we have permission to bludgeon one another to death with the nearest blunt object.
