Entry for May 23, 2007

Oh no. It is mail shot weekend.
For the rest of the Uk this is a bank holiday weekend. Most of the workers on out fair isle will be on holiday. The exceptions of course are workers in essential industries like nurses, firemen and Macdonalds workers. But the rest of the great Bristish public will be celebrating in traditional style by sitting in traffic jams for 6 hours so that they can spend a few minutes eating chips in the rain.
But not for me the delights of the seafront at Prestwick for I have a show approaching. It is - as I alluded to earlier - Mail Shot Weekend. It is time to deluge the Lanarkshire public with publicity. Imagine their happy faces as they trip gaily to the post box to discover a happy litttle Practical Magic flyer.
"Junk Mail?" you say. "Treasure Mail" I reply. A little personally addressed package that promises an hour of magic for your children.
The printer is whirring as I type, spewing out thousands of flyers for the forthcoming show. While the rest of you are tying knots in your hankies, I will be stuffing envelopes, my hands shredded with papercuts. As you tuck into your cup of winkles on the pleasure beech, I will be swearing at the computer as I attempt to work out the diabolic incantation that makes the Mailmerge programme work.
Happy holidays everyone.
