Entry for March 08, 2007

I had an excellently amusing Match Play rehearsal last night: the kind that makes you remember why you do the drama. The cast were in a hardworking but playful mood, and they started to pull some really funny new stuff out of the material. It's good to come out a rehearsal having laughed until you're sore. It beats Celebrity Fame Academy.
There's a feeling of the ropes tightening on the Practical Magic marquee. The circus is coming to town for three days only. The big tent is inching up into the air; and somewhere in the background the band is practising a new song. The cast is starting to spark with nervous energy; the crew are starting to move heavy objects around; and my house is full of flyers and playbills and prize draw slips.
And at this time I know why I do it. It's because it makes you feel like you're alive and busy and the world is full of interesting opportunity.
