Day 9 of The YES Experiment
Yesterday's Yes! has produced mixed results. On the one hand I have received a very nice e-mail from Robert Jeffries of the British Cycling Federation. He tells me that my help is "greatly appreciated and of crucial importance".
On the other hand my Significant Other has suggested that my actions are ridiculous, selfish and, given that I know nothing of cycling, probably negligent. I tried to explain to her that Robert Jeffries said my personal contribution was of "crucial importance". She looked at me in a way that would make most men's blood turn to ice and suggested that she might shortly ask me for a divorce. She reads this, and she knows if she makes the request within the next 21 days, I will have to say yes.
At any event, further Yes opportunities have been thin on the ground today. However, those of you who remember Day 1 of the experiment will remember that I got a copy of The War Cry as a result of my very first yes. It's a Christian newspaper distributed round pubs by the Salvation Army. I have found a tear off slip which says -
Want to know more?
...
YES!
Of course I do. I am sending off for some basic reading on the Christian Faith. Those of you who know the real life me will know just what an unusual step this is for me. I fear that this yes may lead to evangelists on my door step.
