Entry for July 14, 2007

It is the day of my annual birthday barbecue, and as tradition dictates the weather stayed fair.
It was a superb day, with lots of family and friends dropping in at various points in the day. The strawberry daiquiris appear to have been a considerable success judging by the number of empty vodka bottles that are left behind in my kitchen. I say they were a success, although I'm not so sure that one particular guest would agree. I found her at the side of the house some time after all the other guests had gone home. She was clutching my wheelie bin, as if it was a long lost relative. Well, the sort of long lost relative whom one wants to throw up over - presumably one who has turned up on your doorstep looking for accommodation having squandered the family fortune.
Anyway, that aside, everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves. I am faced with only one problem: what to do with the enormous number of sausages which are left in the house. I started out with only four Asda burgers yet I fed 40 guests and am still left with a fridge that looks like a butchers' slab at 9am. I feel a bit like Jesus with the loaves and the fishes.
Although I suspect that during the sermon on the mount Jesus did not drink three enormous daiquiris and then talk a lot of pish.
