I was full of good intentions last night. I made a start at re-writing the script, hung a picture and spent a couple of hours on family paperwork. I had a nice little bundle of papers to post off at work today, and I got into work nice and early with the intention of working my way through them.
My little walk from the car park to work was dark and wet and windy, but my heart was buoyed up by the early start and the self-satisfaction of being on top of my paperwork, which was safe in the cardboard box that I clutched.
Safe, until a big gust of West of Scotland wind blew all the papers out of the box. Not just a little gust of wind. A big swirling "That'll teach you to face the new year with a smile" gust. It sent my papers - cheques, tax returns, even my passport - up into the air into the type of cloud that generally leaves objects deposited alongside witches with ruby slippers.
So, I started my new working year in the pissing rain in the bushes of Bell College, scrabbling after my sodden papers.
Happy New Year Everyone!
