I'm off to a Burns Supper tonight in Larkhall. It should be a merry evening, particularly because it's in a private club and the drink will be cheap. My pal Neil's doing one of the speeches, so I am taking some extra haggis to throw at him if his oratory is less than entertaining.
Burns nights are a bit weird if you ask me. A bunch of men dress up in skirts, eat haggis and have a nice sing song together. The highlight of the evening seems to be sinking a knife into a big pudding while reciting some poetry. It's not your typical West of Scotland guy's idea of a good night out and I do have some doubts about whether or not Rabbie would have approved of an event with such obvious homo-erotic overtones.
Still, who am I to complain. I'm off to slip into my skirt ready for a night of male bonding. Don't wait up.
