Entry for January 22, 2007

I spent an hour or so last night with the cast from "Sketchy!" taking publicity photos. We're working on the premise that, if we have some funky photos and a snappy blurb for the show, we may able to sell it to a few venues. So far it seems to be working. Gillian tells me that we may even have a sketch quite soon. That will be reassuring for the cast.
I'm fairly pleased with the shot we've chosen for the publicity material. I think it says: -
"We're slightly deranged children's entertainers. We couldn't get a job in the adult theatre but here we are, still bravely trying to carve out a niche for ourselves in the acting world, a triumph of hope over bitter experience. Look at us! Bedecked in our foolish spectacles, a sad metaphor for the foolish spectacles we are prepared to make of ourselves in the quest to further our CVs. Give us a job mister. Make our phones ring. Bleep our blackberries. E-mail us. Please...Please..."
Yes. I think that's the message we're trying to convey to promoters everywhere. Professionalism with just a hint of desperation. I think the picture captures the mood.
