Match Play preparations are hotting up now. I went for a look at the venue with the crew today, and the first rehearsal is tomorrow, so it's all getting quite exciting really. The rewrites aren't quite as far on as I would like, but everything's going in the right direction and there's enough time to achieve a good pruning of the script.
The venue looks huge mind you, and I'm getting my usual feelings of concern about all the things that need to be done - flyers; press releases; publicity photos; set construction; attempts to get reviewers in; preparing the rehearsal schedule and so on and so forth. I think that my whole approach to producing shows is to whip myself up into an enomous state of worry about the ridicule and scorn that will be poured on me by the audience, actors and crew. When this feeling reaches a sort of feverish boiling point, where my heart starts racing and I wake up at four in the morning with palpitations, then I know I have to take action.
And they say that having a hobby is good for you.
