Last night's curry was excellent. Spice in Hamilton - particularly brilliant Fish Pakora and far too much Kingfisher lager. Spice is run by the people who started then magnificent takeaway, The Spice of Life, which I knew well because my friend Iain had a flat directly above the shop. This was useful for Iain because he was, in his bachelor days, voted second in Scotland's Laziest Man, only narrowly failing to claim the title because he couldn't be bothered turning up for the final. As a result, a man from Whifflet who lived in a sleeping bag for eight years, took the glory that year.
Iain, although he lived only two flights of stairs above the shop, regularly phoned them for a delivery and he was sufficiently well known to the shop staff that they recognised his voice. They were on first name terms - Iain called the delivery boy Kevin; and the staff in the shop called Iain that lazy bastard in the flat upstairs.
The food was always brilliant, and the owners have clearly stepped it up a gear for the new restaurant. I will return.
