Entry for December 18, 2006

I visited my pal Iain yesterday. He has recently moved to a lovely old house in Larkhall which he and his wife are renovating. I always take particular pleasure in arriving unannounced at the homes of friends when they are likely to be up a ladder painting an intricate piece of cornicing. It is always pleasant to watch them being painstakingly polite, when they plainly want to finish the decorating and have their dinner. In these circumstances I generally have a rule to insist on a cup of tea and a kit kat.
I was pleased to see that Iain still has his priorities right. He currently has no kitchen or washing facilities, but he has made a lovely job of his "Games Room", which to date has been fully painted and lovingly accessorised with Thin Lizzy album covers. He has also installed a lovely new slate bed pool table, a beer fridge and (and this is the best bit) a bar!
Yes. A proper bar. With bar stools.
He is a lovely man my friend Iain. I have resolved to visit him more often.
