One of the interesting things about the blog is you can tell how many people are reading it because of a statisics menu that those thoughtful people at yahoo provide. There's been a big increase in hits over the past couple of days, and I now realise it's because my talented friends Kenny and Allison have been working hard at an update for the Practical Magic website and have put a link to the blog on there.
Check out the updated site on www.practical-magic.org and admire the work. E-mail the administrator address if you have any comments - Kenny and I will be happy to revceive comments and suggestions. It'll have news about next year's shows, and also box office details for the comedy festival gig will be posted soon.
I went for a wee wander into Hamilton today and wound up having a coffee in one of those big modern coffee shops that are everywhere now. I quite often like to go into those shops either with my laptop or a notebook if I'm working on something. I imagine myself to be rather mysterious and literary; sipping my Americano and idly typing a few notes. I feel as if I am in some cafe in Milan working on some masterpiece. The reality , of course, is that I'm just next door to the Everything for a Pound shop typing a letter of complaint to Miller Homes.
The problem is I've now started to notice other people in the coffee shops doing the same; making notes in Moleskine notebooks and typing on their Apple Macs. Generally they are men in their late 30s or early 40s who should be at the football. Often they wear black.
They do not look enigmatic and arty. They generally look as if they could do with a good wash and a girlfriend.
