I'm just back from late night Christmas shopping and can confirm that the world has officially gone stark, staring bonkers.
I thought I'd beat the crowds. After all, it's late night shopping at the Fort and it's still a fortnight until Christmas. That sounds like a reasonable off-peak, sensible time to avoid the weekend throngs.
Silly me.
I have had to endure a thirty minute traffic jam and a car park full to overflowing (almost exclusively with stupidly large 4 wheel drives - obviously an essential for all the off-road driving you need to do just around the M8; you know, rounding up your stray cows in the rolling fields of Easterhouse; making sure you reach the remote lakeside camping site at Blochairn and the like). Then I jostled with numerous fat and almost exclusively grumpy late night shoppers, who should have been safe at home quaffing sherry and scoffing mince pies.
We've all gone mental.
