Entry for August 24, 2007

It is time to reflect on my 31 days of Yes. Am I a better man for it? I'm not really sure, but I have to say that, if the experiment taught me one thing it is this: that I am in general too negative; too close-minded; and too prone to close the door on new experience. Of course, none of us could live our lives saying yes to everything - we would soon be overwhelmed by double glazing salesmen - but, following my month, I intend to say Yes! a bit more often.
It is a joyous positive word. It has led me to cycling marshalling, sideburns and the rarefied delights of the Porcupine Tree album. It opens doors rather than closes them. Better than that. Once the doors are open, you don't just peek through nervously. Yes lets you walk on through into rooms you didn't know existed.
Try it. Go on. Say yes to something today...
