Day 24 of The YES Experiment
If anyone's having difficulty following the theme of these blog entries, click on the link above and all will be explained.
My sideburns are coming in nicely. I am expecting a casting agent from BBC drama to approach me in the street and explain that I am the perfect undiscovered raw talent needed for their new Jane Austin adaptation. I shall of course refuse, having long held the view that Pride and Prejudice would be greatly improved by a few decent car chases, not a view that went down hugely well at undergraduate English literature tutorials.
I am nominally on holiday, but have been working pretty hard on the book all day. It's an odd process, by turns enjoyable and laborious. When I'm actually doing it, it's very absorbing and might almost be described as fun. But then there's the black cloud that perpetually hangs above my head while it remains unfinished. At any event solid progress is being made and the big ring binder that's sitting on the left hand side of my desk is gradually filling up with the second draft. I remain on target. But do not ask me to disclose the target.
We got a nice audience review for Sketchy! which you can read here. It's always nice to get a bit of positive feedback.
On the internet today I found a site where a lady called Meghan asked if I had any decorating dilemmas. Of course I do Megan for this is the month of Yes! I had to fill in a questionnaire. Here are my answers.
Describe the size and layout of your room
It is quite big, but not too big. For example, it is larger than four ping pong tables, yet smaller than Twickenham, It has a blue sofa at one end (which is currently occupied by a golliwog and a pampers new born nappy)and an L shaped series of desks at the other, with a computer, a mass of rather chaotic papers, and inexplicably three racketball balls. I also have a packet of Just for Men hairdye on the window ledge if that helps. (Idon't use the dye by the way - it was a "wacky" gift).
What feeling or look are you trying to achieve?
Scholarly elegance, with the feel of a comfortable burst cushion that needs mending, but which you secretly prefer with the stuffing poking through. And perhaps a feeling of masculinity tempered with boyish enthusiasm. I also collect piggy banks.
