Day 23 of The YES Experiment
If anyone's having difficulty following the theme of these blog entries, click on the link above and all will be explained.
I am back from the Edinburgh Fringe where we did a one off gig with Sketchy! I loved it. It was my first time in one of the major vnues at Edinburgh, and it was great to see the name of our little show on the big listings board next to some of the big boys.
We did the get in late last night, and as I mentioned a few postings back the Power of Yes secured me a flat in Edinburgh for the night, so I had the chance to have a drink with the crew afterwrds in the Three Sisters - a classic festival haunt. Three pints, a balck pudding supper and a strange bed - ah, it feels like Edinburgh in August should.
We were the first show of the day this morning, and it wouldn't be the Fringe without some sort of foul up. This year's was the loss of the key to the venue. After some talk about power tools, forced entry and swearing, the key eventually turned up. We managed to get into the theatre with 15 minutes to curtain up. No time for nerves - just set the props, lay out the costumes, replace a faulty mike and go.
Great, great fun. The cast did a splendid job, and we had a happy little audience of giggling kids. I think they got an energetic performance from a talented bunch. It was value for money and I didn't feel out of place.
On the Yes front, I saw an ad in a glossy magazine today; a very handsome blonde man with lovely hair asked me if I have Beach in my Soul. Well... yes. yes I do have beach in my soul. My moral compass has sand in its workings, and my inner voice sometimes sings to me softly over the sound of crashing waves.
The blonde haired man enjoined me to enter a competition, whereby I can win a trip to California. So I did. I suspect all I will win though is a lot of e-mails about hair care products.
