Entry for April 12, 2007

We had a spectacularly pleasant day reading the papers and playing with the small smiling stranger amongst the dunes of Nairn.
I got one of those “I’d rather not be anywhere except here” moments as me and the daughter stood by the edge of the sea under a blue blue sky on a white sandy beach that felt like paradise. Her, sand sticking to her nose and smiling under a pink sun hat: me, jeans rolled up and paddling in the cold North Sea. So, we stood together on the edge of the world. Everything felt shiny and brand new and full of hope.
