Entry for 8th September, 2008

It was good to see my mate Stevie the other night. He was one of the crew on the very first Fringe show I did and we haven't seen each other for about 10 years, largely because I have been living the staid, stable and dull life of a local solicitor, while he has been touring Europe as lighting superviser for some big bands (Waterboys, Beautiful South etc). So, while I have been struggling over Mrs McGlinn's dipute about her garden shed, Stevie has been behind the desk while crowds of 25,000 bounce around a stadium in southern Germany.
But I'm not envious.
In fact, three of the crew in that show went on to pretty significant things - one has made successful short films, another has toured the world with the National theatre hit "Black Watch" and Stevie has spent five years on a tour bus. Probably having lots of fun, while I was learning about Inheritance Tax.
I remain undiscovered. And open to offers. I have been writing this excellent blog for two years now, and still The Guardian has not asked me to write a column.
I'm not jealous.
Really.
I'm not.
