I’ve finished Derren Brown’s book “Tricks of the Mind”, and a thoroughly entertaining read it is too. It’s a quirky little mix of a book covering subjects as diverse as conjuring tricks, techniques used by fake mediums, and how to improve your memory. (I would share with you the memory techniques but I have forgotten them all.)
One of my pals that I met at the re-union was reading the same book. We haven’t really seen each other for about twenty years, but at school we shared the same tastes (heavy rock music, fantasy fiction and the tight shirts favoured by Fiona from sixth year).
If you read Derren’s book you will understand that I am reluctant to describe the discovery that we were reading the same book at the same time as an exceptional co-incidence. However, it was nice to know that the years of separation haven’t altered our exceptional discernment.
