I am sitting at the keyboard today typing to you with a certain sense of relief. I am puffing happily on a Cuban cigar lovingly rolled on the thighs of a Cuban beauty queen and sipping a chilled glass of Moet, for I have now cast “Misery”. And it will now definitely be staged at the East Kilbride Arts Centre in November. (Tickets are available here for those of you who are interested).
Given that it is only a cast of 2, the process of finding the actors was a little less stressful than casting “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (which has a cast of about 423 actors as far as I can tell). However, it is still a relief to know that there are still at least a brace of local actors who are prepared to work with me after all these years.
I am also pleased to note that South Lanarkshire Council are advertising the show as suitable for people of all ages. I am sure that my two year old will enjoy a tale of gruesome physical torture and scenes of graphic violence.
It will no doubt give her ideas to try out on her brother.
