Entry for 4th August, 2008

I have been spending a pleasant evening watching Jamie Oliver killing a pig. Now - that's entertainment!
I am glad that British television has shed it's desire to entertain. Gone are the likes of Morecombe & Wise, Play for Today and Fawlty Towers. We didn't really like that stuff anyway. It was overrated. Who needs creativity and production values when we can watch a dribbly illiterate slaughtering Pinky and Perky.
Clearly the masters of the BBC and ITV have recognised that we are in the middle of a depressing credit crunch and have decided that we don't want anything uplifting on our screens. So, instead of trying to find the next Del Boy and Rodney, we get an hour and a half of looking at the labels on pork products.
I feel relaxed and happy in my newfound knowledge about EU pork labelling regulations. Who needs laughter and diversion? Not me. I am off to picket Sainsbury's.
