Entry for 2nd August, 2008

I hate going to courses for work. i need to go to them though. The sad truth is that, in my job, I don't get time to read about all the developments that happen every week in the law. So, I try to go to a few essentila courses every year in the hope that I will absorb other people's knowledge by osmosis. Simply by being in the same room as a professor in conveyancing, i hope that his knowlege will seep into my brain, in much the same way as germs insinuate themselves into your bloodstream after you spend too long in the room with someone who has the flu.
Tonight's course was "conveyancing - What Happened in 2008". This is not likely to thrill many of you I appreciate. So I will give you the edited highlight.
I learned last night that there's a new case which was decided about a month ago which strongly suggests that about 50% of all title deeds for new properties since 1979 are probaly invalid.
I don't want to worry you, but if you are sitting snugly in your new Barratt Home, don't get too comfy. It probably doesn't belong to you.
