It is Saturday morning, and I should be engaging the children with interesting and educational projects. I am middle class, and I ought to be reading them stories, taking them to the theatre and taking them to Yoga for the under 3s.
I am not though. I am letting them watch the telly.
I have asked Round Faced Girl several times what she wants to do, and have received the consistent answer, "I want to watch C-Beebies". And to be honest, I am feeling a bit full of some miscellaneous bug. I am sure that the children have given it to me, having picked it up by licking the snot-covered upper lip of another toddler. Therefore, it is really the fault of the children that I am not feeling very energetic today.
In fact, if you look at it that way, it is down to them that they are being allowed to sit in front of the Thicky Box all morning. It is probably affecting their chances of educational advancement in later life. I expect that they will not now be able to secure fulfilling and well-paid jobs, and will be unhappy in future life.
But it is not my fault. They brought it on themselves.
