I now have 50 Facebook friends. Now that I have become a Facebook addict, I have invested all of my notions of self-worth entirely in how many Facebook friends I have. Now that I have passed the half century, I feel that I am well on the way towards a fulfilled and happy life.
The good thing about Facebook is that you don’t need to put in any effort with your friends any more. I no longer need to phone or visit my friends. I can now post my status on the web every day and be assured of the love and goodwill of 51 people. Social contact is now redundant. Who needs a game of snooker with a mate when you can look at pictures of the Barmitsva of the son of someone you met once at a party in 1995?
