In a moment of weakness, I agreed to contribute an article to the Family Law Bulletin. This seemed like a good idea when I was asked two months ago. I felt it would contribute to my growing fame and fortune, and might accelerate the inevitable knighthood. I am after all a VERY IMPORTANT PERSON.
That was three months ago. Or as the editor of the journal looks at it - One Month Before the Deadline. As opposed to today, which, on one view of matters, might be described as Two Months After the Deadline. That, I feel, is a rather uncharitable way to look at things, and fails to take into account the relative nature of time. I have tried to point out to the Editor that if she had taken a trip on a spaceship travelling at a speed close to the speed of light, then I would have submitted my material well within the deadline.
And on top of that she would have had the pleasure of being locked up in a cage by an intelligent monke who sounds like Roddy McDowall.
She is having none of it.
