The Round Faced Boy has learned how to laugh properly. I do not think there is a better sound in the world than a baby laughing. For him, today, the funniest thing in the world is someone repeatedly saying "Babyjonybabyjonybabyjony". This provokes peels of baby laughter, and the biggest gumsy smile I have ever seen. It is nothing short of delightful.
Like most men I think, I never really saw the point of children, until I had them myself. People would bring babies into the office, and like the rest of the staff I would make the appropriate "ooh" and "ahh" noises. But in all honesty, I was generally thinking: "That is a very wrinkly and noisy thing. At what point would it be impolite to return to my room, so that I can pretend to work whilst actually buying CDs from amazon.com."
Fair enough, children were nice to borrow from time to time, if you wanted to see the new Wallace and Gromitt movie, but it was also nice to give them back afterwards. However, all the cliches are true. your own kids are the funniest; cutest; best-looking; most intelligent kids in the whole world.
The thing is I actually mean what I said in the last paragraph. My kids actually are funniest; cutest; best looking; most intelligent kids in the universe.
