Entry for 18th March, 2008

31 Days to Write
a
50,000 Word Novel
DAY 18
Wordcount 33,994
My novel is now nearly 7/10ths complete. I am not yet a novelist though, and there is some grinding to be done. In particular, my protagonist is running out of things to do. I think I know where he is going, but I feel he wants to get there a lot quicker than I need him to. What do I do, if reaches the end of the novel before I hit 50,000 words? I suppose I could write some acknowledgements and a chapter list, but even at a push that would be no more than a few hundred words.
I am thinking about writing extensive title to the chapters in the following manner -
Chapter3
In which our hero becomes engaged in a rather rambling adventure with some transvestite zombies, which does little to further the plot, but which pads out the exposition nicely
