Entry for 17th October, 2008 - Olympic Glory

I had a pleasant time at the weekend watching the Masters on the telly. I was particularly pleased to see that a guy aged 48 reached the play off for the trophy. Having reached the age of 41 I am now at a stage in life where nearly all sporting heroes are younger than me, so it was good to see someone in their fifth decade giving the striplings a run for their money.
I think that I am now unlikely to make the volleyball squad for London 2012, and my faint hope for Olympic glory rests on an eleventh hour call up to the crown bowls squad. I understand the bowls team are currently holed up in their elite training facility in Lytham St Annes. There they are testing out new theories in sports nutrition, and are researching exactly the right time in the game to break for a nice cup of tea and a slice of cherry bakewell.
