It is the first public outing for me and my new mandolin this weekend. I am going up to The Advisor's house for a jam, and my trusty guitar will now be joined by its eight stringed baby sister. This means that I will be taking two instruments that I can't play instead of the customary one. However, as I have mentioned before, these jam sessions are now more about drinking coffee and shooting the bull than they are about music, so I suspect that it will not matter.
We still do not have a major label. The AOR man from Columbia said that there is a limited market for ugly old men who can't sing. What does he know? In days to come he will be on Channel 4's "Western Civilisation's 50 Biggest Mistakes Ever!!!". He will be close to tears as an ageing Dale Winton introduces videos of our monster hits. They will read his rejection letter to him for the umpteenth time and he will rue the day he said "Mandolin bands are on their way out."
