Entry for 14th July, 2008

I am having trouble trying to sell my latest play to East Kilbride Arts Centre.Here is an exerpt from the conversation -
ME - Would you take my latest play for a few performances?
EKAC - What's it called?
ME - "21 Girlfriends"
EKAC - Oh?
ME - Well, that's it's working title.
EKAC - When you say "working title"...?
ME - Well - I might call it something different. Once I finish it.
EKAC - Once you finish it? You mean it's a work in progress.
ME - Kind of. Well. No. Not really. No.
EKAC - (raises one eyebrow quizically)
ME - Well - "work in progress" implie that I've started it I suppose.
EKAC - I see. So you want us to buy a play that hasn't been written yet.
ME - (brightly) Yes. That's it. Exactly right.
EKAC - What's it about?
ME - Well. We're not sure yet. We won't know that until we start rehearsals. We're basing the scripts on improvisation sessions.
EKAC - So. All you really have is a title then?
ME - Yes.
EKAC - And you're not even sure about that...
ME - No.
(LONG PAUSE)
ME - Shall I call back when I know a bit more about it?
EKAC - If you must.
