My son - the Roundfaced Boy - has taken to Jimmy Boyle style protests of a morning. For those of you who do not know your West of Scotland prison mythology, Jimmy Boyle was a local gangster, who staged the notorious Dirty Protest by smearing faeces all over his cell and body.
My son has not yet acquired any convictions, but he has clearly been following Jimmy's exploits and has elected to follow his example. I am not sure what he is protesting about. More freedom to draw on furniture? The right to eating pudding before finishing one's tuna pasta? Who knows, but there is nothing like rising on a sunny Sunday morning, treading softly into your childrens' room to greet them on a new day, and seeing the smiling face of your son smeared with face paint of his own manufacture.
Another perfect day is just beginning.
