Me and my mates continued the great Dungeons & Dragons revival last night. I fear that we are all enjoying it a little bit too much for a group of forty year old men. I have now reached a point where I think that I know the combat rules just about as well as I know the Family Law (Scotland) Act. This suggests that far too much of my limited neurological capacity is devoted to storing information about the Armour Class penaly a character should take whilst fighting an animated corpse in torchlight.
I do not really have the brain cells to waste any more. I imagine my brain as a big room full of filing cabinets. Most of them are already full. Look - over there - there's a stuffed cabinet overflowing with information about the early works of Kate Bush. That pile of boxes contains a lot of information about Shackleton's trip to the Antartic. That whole aisle over there is full of jumbled papers labelled "Pointless Detailed Facts About Divorce Law" - I filled the cabinets while writing the book, and I fear they will never be cleared out.
There are only a few empty cabinets left. I have a horrible feeling that if I fill them with information about trolls and dragons and sorcerers, then some horrible librarian is going to have to start to empty other cabinets. I fear she has an incinerator out the back where she will start to burn stuff. Important stuf. Like how to remember where I live. And what order to put my clothes on in the mornings. And what spoons are for.
So. What I mean is....
Ummm.
Lost my thread now....
Do you know what this spoon does?
